EXP 3 FINAL: 2 MOVING ELEMENTS

Moving element 1: Timber slat ceiling facade

The timber slat facade is located right outside the main entrance and aligns with the underside of the L1 Gallery space. It is planned to moved according to the amount of human traffic going through the building and the open space that it sits over. This would be achieved by sensors that track human traffic. The more people it senses within an allocated period of time, the higher the screen will rise until the just touches the ceiling. When there is a lower amount of human traffic (night time, holidays) the ceiling will sit lower, resting just above the door. This gives the impression to users that during this time the building is closed off or 'resting' adjusting to the change in the human environment.

Moving element 2: Timber slat louvers on west oriented windows.

These louvers will be timed to move with the sun and is especially important during the warmer summer months. Adjusting to the change in sun angles, the louvers will shift to block out the sun where it is shining directly following the sun path during the afternoon to sunset.
